4 Years Later

Not a lot in my life is the same as it was four years ago. Back then, I was living in St. Paul. I was unhappy at music college, George Bush was president. I spent every night burning the midnight oil, writing songs for my band. Blink-182 was a band at the height of their career -- and my own fate seemed tied to theirs, as they were the group that inspired me to pursue music professionally.

Today, I'm living in Mankato, going to Minnesota State. Next year I'll be finishing my degree in political science. Barack Obama is president. My family has endured a share of tragedy and blessings. Through all these changes, the companion that was there for me all through puberty was missing.

But this week, blink-182 announced an end to a near four year hiatus, which began in March 2005. It's a good day.
